Amazing number of people around me getting cancer! Albert was wise to get in at an early age, and get it over with. He's going to live forever now.

Saw a fascinating documentary about the Ukrainian boxing brothers. One of them's even going to run for president. Good luck to him, though I don't think he's enough of a bastard to succeed there.

I had to go to a luncheon for the deifheids last weekend. I took Hotters' advice and used real beer as an anaesthetic. And I had the foresight to arrange to lay concrete in the afternoon, so I couldn't stick around for the conversation.

  1. Albert? Well done for trying real beer with beer in it. And you're right: the black spot is getting handed over here there and everywhere! Hotboy

  2. I say!

Tricky business - luncheons. Most start too early, and don't go on long enough, in my experience.

  3. I'm not sure more folks are getting cancer or just it is getting found earlier. I'm also not sure the treatments offered are any better.

Sorry the lunch required anaesthetic. But glad you had something else to do.

Why would Albert want to live forever, what a ghastly idea.

  4. I say!

Every eight years your chance of not making your next birthday roughly doubles.

  5. Hotters and Nanners. In the old days, cancer was more accepted as one of the inevitable ways that old folk died. I do think the stats are getting worse, though it's hard to know how to interpret them. In my day they said one in 4 people would get it, now I think it's one in 3. On the other hand, more people are living to be old enough to get it.

Mingers. The cellmate's brother is fortunate, born on 29th February he has to wait 32 years to double his chances.
