my favourite thing 3 (HNT)

I have a few favourite things that I've held onto for years.

Last century, when I was studying Sociology, there was an oil crisis, and Britain was having power cuts virtually every day. Factories were shut for half the week.

I was doing some home repairs and I needed to buy a drill. I was convinced that capitalism was on its last legs before a new stone age, so what was the point in buying an electric drill? So I bought this brace and bit instead.

Well, pretty soon the oil crisis ended, and I relented and bought an electric drill. But the hand drill was a good one, and I wasn't going to throw it away. It has never been used since, but last week I found a use for it, drilling holes in a new door.

And this week I found another use for it. By the way, it isn't photoshopped.

Does anyone else have favourite things that they've held onto for years?

  5. I'm mainly concerned about the lividity of your skin tone. Are you suffering from post-mortem hypostasis, by any chance? I'd take that to the GP.

I like this favourite things series. If I can stay off the wife-beater long enough, I hope to reciprocate.

  12. Doesn't every man have a favorite thing he's held onto for years? It doesn't usually look like that though. :-)

  13. HNT-ing Rob, although your pic must be one of the more original around - not that I bother to check anymore, those halcyon days of being able to spend hours keeping my blog up to date and visiting my blogchums seem SO long ago! Love your story about the deef heeds, wish I could be as honest with some of my 'friends'...you are SUCH a hoot!

Oh and favourite thing hung onto for years? Pink Converse baseball boots - 19 years I've had 'em...and some over the knee black suede boots from the 80's...
