love-hate balance

Scientists at University College London have shown that there really is a thin line between love and hate, at least in the brain.

A new study reveals that the brain's "love" and "hate" circuits share identical structures.

At last, I think I understand why I pursued the annoying but delightful Denny for years, then let her slip away after I had won her, yet still missed her even after she was dead.

Everything in the universe, it's all just more and more balancing up. I'm hoping I can still see things that way when I'm at death's door, just balancing up my birth. That would help.

  1. Albert? Is that still you? How can you be sure you're not at death's door? If you thought every day might be the last one, it would certainly sharpen you up! Since love and hate are both emotional, maybe it's not so surprising that they share a lot of wiring. Anyway, what do scientists know? Hotboy

  2. Albert? Did the delightful Denny cover herself in pig fat so that one you'd got your mitts on her, you couldn't keep a hold of her? Anyway, who is she? Did she have nothing on in any of the photies? Show us some photies! I'd like to see yon fat one again in the short skirt up by the castle. Hotboy

  3. Only deliberately stupid people can accept polarities as real, instead of as nominal, dialectical categories.

The worst thing about dead is that the opportunity to express balance in person has slipped away. Luckily, dead/alive is one of these nominal categories, and therefore no absolute barrier to reconciliation.

  4. hotters, excellent point, we are at death's door every moment as far as we know, though thanks to denial mechanisms we can believe otherwise.

hotters, for ethical reasons I would have to decapitate the photos, would that still help?

    ion, thanks (I think)

all - I just remembered something that's stuck in my memory from my anatomy days - the genitals and the anus/rectum share a single nerve path. Funny how they discovered that one, decades earlier than the love/hate thing.

  5. Albert? Sing if you're glad to be gay! I knew it all along. You public school boys are all the same! Hotboy p.s. Decapitated? Better than nothing!

  7. I say!

If everything balances up, then there's hope that England will do better the next time they play cricket.

Can't remember a thing after the interval in play last night. Must remember to tell Doviko to ignore my requests for MGTs when the cricket is on.
